School Advisory Association

The Meridian Heights School Advisory Association (MHSAA) is the parent-run fundraising body within the school. This group provides such programs as hot lunches, and other fundraising initiatives.

All parents/guardians of students attending Meridian Heights School are members of the MHSAA and are welcome at all meetings, which are held monthly except for December and June. Notice of meetings are published in the school newsletter or sent home separately.

 

Volunteer Opportunities

In-Class Helpers

Volunteer description: As an In-Class Helper, you'll play a vital role in supporting teachers and students, making it ideal for those passionate about education and committed to enhancing academic and social development.

Areas of support: resource preparation, supervision, small group activities, individualized support, and assist teachers.

Time commitment: Flexible scheduling to fit your availability—weekly or occasional.
Requirements: Complete a Volunteer Registration Form, criminal records check, and vulnerable sector check.

Hot Lunch Helpers

Volunteer description/area’s of support: At EMHS, our Hot Lunch is provided by local restaurants. As a Hot Lunch volunteer, you will be able to assist in accepting the lunch delivery, organizing and dividing the lunches up between classroom bins, and then pass these bins out to students. We also sell the extra food as a concession.

Time commitment: approx. 2hrs (11am-1:00pm). Flexible scheduling to fit your availability—weekly or occasional.

Breakfast Club

Volunteer description: Join us in creating a positive morning atmosphere for students. Volunteers assist with breakfast setup, engage with students, and ensure a welcoming environment.

Areas of support: assist with breakfast setup, engage with students in a friendly manner, promote a welcoming environment, and assist with clean-up.

Time commitment: approx. 1hr (8-9am) Flexible scheduling to fit your availability—weekly or occasional.

Fundraising

Volunteer description: Be a driving force in our mission to enhance our school! We invite individuals eager to assume leadership roles and those ready to offer valuable support. Engage in monthly meetings and seize the opportunity to spearhead particular events or campaigns as we work together to raise funds for school improvement. Your active participation will make a significant impact on our shared goals.

Time commitment: Time commitment varies based on your involvement level, and requirements depend on the chosen commitment or campaign.

Field Trip Helpers

Coaching

Volunteer description: Ignite your passion for sports and mentorship by joining our team as a School Coach. As a dedicated volunteer, you'll play a vital role in shaping the athletic experiences of our students.

Areas of support: Coaches focus on enhancing player skills, implementing effective game strategies, fostering team building, and promoting positive sportsmanship.

Time commitment: Time commitment varies and depends on the sport and the level of involvement.
