Artist In Residence at Meridian Heights!

Artist in Residence Schedule

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for our students this March! École Meridian Heights School will be welcoming Lisa Matthias, a professional visual artist and arts educator, as our Artist in Residence. Lisa brings over 15 years of experience in visual arts education and has led numerous artist residency programs.

During her time with us, Lisa will introduce our students to the world of printmaking, engaging them in hands-on experiences that will nurture their creativity and artistic expression. Each class will have dedicated sessions with Lisa, where students will create their own unique printmaking pieces. Additionally, students will collaborate to contribute to a larger community artwork, which will be displayed within our school as a lasting legacy of their artistic journey.

Beyond class sessions, students will also have opportunities to engage with Lisa through a drop-in lunchtime drawing club and an open studio, where they can observe the creative process firsthand and further develop their artistic skills. The residency will conclude with an art exhibition, showcasing student creations and collaborative works for our school community to celebrate.

We are excited for this transformative experience and believe it will inspire our students to explore new artistic techniques while fostering a greater appreciation for the arts. Please see the attached permission form and parent volunteer sign up as each class will need two - three parents to help out in their session. There is NO COST associated with the residency as it is provided through a matching grant from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA).

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to reach out to the school. Thank you for your support in making this enriching experience possible for our students!
